About Our Director...
Daphne is most well known for her inspirational teaching and choreography. She has studied dance since her childhood and opened Dove Dance OKC in 1994. Certified to teach through Dance Masters of America, she has served on the Oklahoma board and as treasurer. She was a guest master teacher at the 2005 American College Dance Festival and has taught at University level. Her work with young people and the dance community was recognized by the Women’s Oklahoma Hospitality Club who named her a 2008 Oklahoma Woman Honoree. Her choreography pieces have received numerous awards and recognitions.
She has been a member of three dance companies throughout her career. Her students have won 45 state overall DMA championships. Some of her former students have gone on to work full-time in Branson, join prestigious ballet companies, receive college dance scholarships, hold state titles in the Miss Teen America & Miss Deaf America systems, and DMA in all four divisions, Oklahoma Titles. Her students were selected as the children’s dance cast for Grammy award musician, DINO Kartsonakis’, Branson show. Daphne was asked by DINO to develop and choreograph one of his shows for theatre. Daphne founded Dove Dance Tulsa for four years which still thrives under a new name and professional friend. One of her greatest joys is to oversee dance mission tours out of the country in Asia and South America. As Mrs. Oklahoma 2001, Daphne shared her original program, 3-Dimensional Mentoring.
Dove Dance has been featured in national publications such as DANCE Magazine, Dance Spirit, and Dance Teacher. Daphne has four children who all have continued their education in dance. Daphne’s greatest joys are her family and sharing the gospel through dance & teaching others to do the same.
One of her favorite scriptures is “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” - James 4:8
